Local Small Business for Over 30 Years
New City Market’s roots go back to 1973, as a natural deli named Prana located on University Ave in the Drake area. Prana deli later became Mother Earth, a natural foods grocery store. In the early 1970s, the grocery moved to Forest Ave and was renamed Iowa Farmer’s Market. In 1984 the store, now called Greens & Grains, relocated to Hickman. In 1988, Jim and Cindy moved the store to its current location and renamed it New City Market. We’ve been in our current location for over twenty years, but we continue to grow. About five years ago, the store was remodeled and expanded.
